Reunion Story - Miami-Dade Animal Services

On the night of June 23, 2015, pet-parent Ileen, pictured below, lost her four year old terrier mix, Pink, while she was at work.

Ileen spent the night frantically looking for Pink around the neighborhood. After there was no sign of her pet in the morning, her cousin advised her to download the Finding Rover app.

Within minutes, the app made a match from a pet located at the shelter.

She immediately drove to Animal Services to pick up her dog. In less than 24 hours, this family was reunited and another dog is out of the system.

A happy reunion indeed! Thank you Miami Dade Animal Services

With the Finding Rover integration, Miami-Dade Animal Services now offers their community an additional tool to help lost and adoptable dogs find their forever home through FindingRover.com (mobile app and website).

Now, every dog that enters Miami-Dade Animal Services becomes registered on Finding Rover. Users of Finding Rover can search the shelter right from their smartphone or computer for their missing dog, a neighbor’s missing dog, or search for adoptable dogs.

Every dog that leaves Miami-Dade Animal Services, through a reunion or an adoption, can remain protected on Finding Rover when the pet-parent completes registration with an email. If that dog ever gets lost, his/her record will already be in the system, and identifying that pet will be a snap.

Registration of your pet is simple and free. Once your dogs are registered, they’re protected for life.

“A dog is a beloved family member, and if he or she goes missing, it can be devastating to everyone involved. We want to do everything we can to safeguard our dogs from being lost forever. Registering a dog on Finding Rover is another step all owners should take to further protect their cherished pet.”

— John Polimeno, CEO and founder of Finding Rover.

When a community comes together on Finding Rover, more dogs can find home. Please help more pets find home, and spread the word.

Key benefits of using Finding Rover include:

Simple to register: Registration is easy through Facebook and email – all you need is a picture of your dog and a zip code.

Easy to use: Anyone with a mobile phone can take a photo of a lost dog, which will be instantly posted on Finding Rover.

Technologically advanced: Finding Rover spent two years with The University of Utah research and development (R&D) department creating its proprietary facial recognition technology. Finding Rover has the only technology that instantly recognizes a dog on the spot.

Social: Finding Rover unites dog owners based on common interests and provides a forum for users to read up on the latest dog news, share content and interact.

Free! Finding Rover is free to download and use.
