Next time you and your pooch head out in scorching weather, think twice before you have them walk on the hot pavement. A good test to see if the ground is too hot is to - you guessed it - take off your shoe and touch the ground with your bare foot. If the ground's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pup.
Dog's have two main ways of regulating heat: panting and sweating from their paws. If they're walking on hot pavement, it's preventing them from relieving heat from their bodies. So don't forget - next time you go out in hot weather, make sure they don't walk on the hot ground and that they hydrate well.
